
A 56-year-old man was smacked with a $5,000 fine after moving a pangolin from Upper Seletar Reservoir Park to Lower Peirce Reservoir. The man was caught in the act by a passerby, when confronted the man claims that he is trying to save the pangolin from ants infested area.

During the court hearing, the prosecutor pointed out that the man was not looking out for the animal best interest. This is because pangolin is known for feeding on ants or termites.
Under the Parks and Trees Act, it is illegal for a person to displace an animal within a nature reserve. Anyone convicted for the offence could face a jail term up to 6 months, fine up to $50,000 or both.
