A heartbroken man in China had recently broken up with his girlfriend and took extreme measures to win his ex-girlfriend back.
The man from Sichuan province, China, was seen in a video shared by Jiu Pai News on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, kneeling on the ground outside his ex-girlfriend’s workplace with a bouquet of flowers in hand.
He was seen kneeling on the ground while being surrounded by passers-by, who urged him to give up, as he remained kneeling on the ground while the rain poured on him.
The police were later involved and the man then asked the police if it was illegal for him to kneel down there, and if it wasn’t illegal, he told the police to leave him alone.
An eyewitness who was at the scene at the time, Li, spoke to Jiu Pai News and said that the man had been kneeling on the same spot for more than 20 hours, before reluctantly giving up in the end and leaving at 10 am the following morning.
Li said that the man left when it became too cold for him outside and that what he did was “so unnecessary,” adding that his ex-girlfriend wasn’t willing to show up but the man was still there, embarrassing himself.
The video has since gone viral and racked up more than 6 million views, with many netizens calling the man’s attempt to win his ex-girlfriend back, a “red flag”.
One netizen warned others (and his ex-girlfriend) to stay away from him, with another saying that they understand why the woman left him based on what they saw in the video.
Another netizen chimed in and questioned the man’s decision to forego his own dignity for the sake of love, asking him why the need to humiliate himself, “just let her go.”
