MAN LIES TO GF: “ESPLANADE USED TO A DURIAN FARM, THATS WHY DESIGN LIKE THAT”

I’ll never forget the day my Malaysian girlfriend, who had just moved to Singapore, asked me why the Esplanade looked like a durian.

So she couldn’t understand why the building looked like fruit. I was taken aback by the question since I had grown up in Singapore and had never even thought to ask why the building was designed like a durian.

At first, I was completely stumped. I had no idea why the Esplanade was designed to look like a durian. Then I had a brilliant idea. I decided to tell my girlfriend that the Esplanade used to be a durian farm, and that’s why the building was designed like a durian.

I was so proud of myself for coming up with such an inventive answer. But I was also a bit nervous about how my girlfriend would react.

I had no idea if she would believe me or not. I took a deep breath and told her my story.

To my surprise, she believed me! She was so excited to learn something new about Singapore that she accepted my explanation without question. I was relieved that she had believed me and I felt quite proud of myself for being so creative.

But I couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty for lying to her. I felt like I had deceived her, and I didn’t want her to think less of me.

So I decided to do some research and find out the real story behind the Esplanade.

Turns out, the Esplanade was actually built in the early 2000s and was designed by a team of architects and engineers. The design of the building was inspired by the durian fruit, which is native to Singapore. The architects wanted to create a building that would be eye-catching and memorable, and they thought the shape of the durian was the perfect way to achieve that.

So, as it turns out, my story wasn’t entirely unaccurate. But I’m glad that I was able to come up with a creative answer that my girlfriend believed. And I’m even more glad that I took the time to do some research and find out the real reason why the Esplanade looks like a durian.

Now, whenever my girlfriend and I pass by the Esplanade, she always reminds me of the “durian farm” story I told her. I still feel a bit guilty for lying to her, but I’m also proud of myself for being able to come up with such a creative answer. I guess sometimes it pays to be a bit creative.
