An enforcement operation was conducted by CNB officers on 30 June at Block 125 Yishun Street 11, at about 1am.
Residents at the building reportedly heard loud noises emanating from the unit before the police raid, according to China Press.
Shin Min Daily News reported that the police arrived at the man’s unit and asked him to evacuate the flat, according to a 75-year-old resident nearby.
The man then reportedly refused to cooperate with the officers and locked himself in the unit on the 7th floor of the block for 3 hours.
He also reportedly threatened to blow up the kitchen of the unit by causing an explosion using a gas cylinder.
Police reinforcements and the SCDF later arrived at the scene and neighbouring residents were evacuated from the area.
Nettings were then set up by SCDF officers on the 6th and 8th floor units to cover the 7th floor unit where the man was holed up in.
A safety air cushion was also set up at the door of the block, as officers tried to enter the man’ sunit from the kitchen window, whilst continuing to communicate with him.
The two suspects, aged 52 and 61, were eventually arrested at about 2am, for drug related offences, and investigations against them are ongoing.
