22-year-old Assiddiq Surani was fined $1,000 on 10 June after pleading guilty to an offence under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act.
He had failed to wear a mask properly during an interview with a teenage YouTuber, Kotra Venkata Sai Rohankrishna, as well as failing to keep a distance of at least 1m from him and another teenager, Glaxy Low Xuan Ming, at a Clarke Quay gathering on New Year’s Day earlier this year.
Kotra was wearing a Spider-Man costume while Low wore a wrestling mask.
He was previously issued a composition fine for breaching Covid-19 regulations in 2020, and reoffended again with his latest case.
Assiddiq went to Read Bridge near Clarke Quay on 31 December last year at about 11pm to meet three friends to countdown.
Kotra and Low then approached Assiddiq and his friends for an interview shortly after midnight, and he (Assiddiq) failed to keep a distance of at least 1m from both Kotra and Glaxy.
His face mask was also pulled under his chin during the video, which was uploaded onto YouTube on 3 January.
