What happened?

The incident happened on 6 June 2021 at about 12pm near Foch Road, at Jalan Besar.

Zasman had booked a taxi via the ComfortDelGro app on his phone the previous night, for a pickup at 25 Jalan Berseh.

The driver then arrived at the indicated time and place but Zasman wasn’t there.

The driver couldn’t wait there for a long period because he was on a single-lane road, and he then drove to a location nearby to wait for the passenger.

Zasman later boarded the taxi with his wife, and he later found out that he was charged an additional $3 waiting fee.

The upset man then scolded the taxi driver whilst en route to his destination, and at the end of the trip, he only paid the taxi fare of $6.30 and refused to pay the waiting fee of $3.

The two then got into an argument, and the man’s wife then gave the driver $4 after she saw them quarelling with each other.

Still unhappy, Zasman then smashed the windshield of the taxi after alighting, causing it to shatter. The driver then filmed the accused’s actions and he then later lodged a police report against him.

The taxi sustained damages of $1,076 in repairs, as well as another $250 in losses as the taxi, couldn’t be rented out due to being under repairs.
