A man shared how his mother found out about his family planning a trip to USS and she wants to join them.
Here is the story
So this is about my mother, not MIL. My wife and I are planning a trip to USS, just us and the kids.
My mother watches the kids since she is retired. My wife mentioned the vaca when picking up the kids yesterday.
Today I drop the kids off in the morning. My mother: I heard you’re going to USS.
Dad: You better bring your mother with you, that’s why she bought that scooter.
Mother: Are you bringing me with you?
I didn’t even know what to say. This isn’t normal, is it? My Dad loves to guilt trip so he will be a total prick if we don’t bring her and it’ll ruin the trip having it on my mind the whole time.
My mother will also feel bad for herself.
(Note: this would be the first real family vaca ever because of Covid and the last 2+ years.)
Am I nuts? Are they nuts? SOS.
Netizen’s comments
“Or what dad?” Um, you don’t owe her a trip. My MIL pressures us frequently to go on trips with us. Sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t. For your own sanity, if she does go, take separate vehicles and stay in a different room. It’s ok to tell them “No. We’ll plan a trip with you another time.”
I have a better time without my in-laws and parents.
I went to a theme park with my parents for two days. We shopped and went on one ride.
