Tan Fu Yu, 20-years-old, pleaded guilty on 26 November to leaving his home without a reasonable excuse while on MC.
Tan was issued an MC for acute upper respiratory tract infection in December 2020 by a doctor at Ang Mo Kio Polyclinic and was told to take a swab test for Covid-19.
Not allowed to leave home
The 3-days MC that he was issued with stated that he was required to stay at home until his swab test result came back negative.
He acknowledged the doctor’s instructions and collected his MC but then left the polyclinic without going for the swab test.
Left home to get tattoo
He took a public bus home and the next day, he left his home to get a tattoo at a tattoo studio at Sin Ming Road while still on MC.
A nurse from the polyclinic tried to call him on his phone multiple times but they went unanswered.
The tattoo artist noticed that he was bleeding a lot while tattooing his chest.
After the tattoo session, Tan then took a bus home at around 3 pm.
Asked for a second chance
Tan was unrepresented in court and urged the court to give him a second chance, saying there was no excuse for what he did.
He is expected to return to court on 9 December for his sentencing.
