
A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 15 months of jail after he pleaded guilty to 4 charges which include circulating of obscene materials, criminal intimidation, harassment and violation of the film Act.
According to the court document, the man has blackmailed a woman for $200,000 after felling for his scam. In June 2016, the man poses as a businessman and posted advisement online looking for a lover. In return, the man would pay his lover $10,000 in return.
A woman has fallen into his trap and contacted him. Both parties agreed for a meet up in a hotel where the man poses as the personal assistant of the businessman. During the meet up the man requested to check the body of the victim to see if she met the standards of his boss.
The victim was reluctant at first but she thought that it was the process. She then allowed the man to take nudes and videos of her. After the meetup, the man then poses as the businessman and continues to request nudes and video from the woman saying that he will give her the payment after that.
After the victim has done what was requested, she did not receive any payment from the man and decided to block him. The man then poses as the businessman and proceeds to blackmail the victim for $200,000 with the pictures and videos.
The victim then approached the man who she believes he was the personal assistant of the businessman for help. The man asked the woman for sex in return for his favour which lasted for several months.
The man later created an Instagram account using the victim’s name and posted her pictures and video online. The victim then alerted the police on the 26 Nov 2016 and the man was arrested on the same day.
