I was proud to host a business meeting at my mother’s funeral. It was a difficult decision, but the opportunity was too important to pass up.

I knew it would be an unconventional choice, but I had to put my business first. Even so, it was still a difficult choice.

I had been planning my mother’s funeral for weeks. I had everything planned out from the flowers to the music. I was determined to make her sendoff a special one. I had invited all of her friends and family members to say their last goodbyes.

However, the day of the funeral, I received a call from an important business associate. He wanted to discuss a major deal and asked if we could meet at the funeral. I was taken aback by the request. It seemed so disrespectful to the occasion. I was torn between my business and my family.

After much deliberation, I decided to accept the offer. I knew this was a rare opportunity and I had to take it. I saw it as a way to honour my mother. After all, she had always encouraged me to pursue my dreams.

I had my staff set up a table in the back corner of the room. We had a few chairs and a laptop for the meeting. We were discreet about the setup so that it didn’t interfere with the funeral.

The meeting went surprisingly well. We discussed the details of the deal and I was able to close it. My business associate was impressed by my professionalism and dedication to the task. I was glad that I had been able to honor my mother in such a unique way.

The funeral was a success and my mother was laid to rest peacefully. I was grateful for all of the support from my family and friends. I was also proud of myself for having the courage to host a business meeting at my mother’s funeral.

Since then, I have been mocked by colleagues “filial to the max” by my business associates. It is a title that I am proud to wear, even though I know that they are being sarcastic.

My mother taught me to always put my business first, and I did just that. I was able to honor her memory while still taking care of my business.
