MAN QUITS WORKING IN BANK CAUSE COMMISSION IS LOW

I used to work at a bank, but I recently made the decision to quit. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, as I had been working there for several years and had built relationships with my colleagues and clients.

However, the reason I ultimately left was because of the low commission and the pressure to sell bad insurance products.

At first, I was excited about the commission structure. The potential to earn a good amount of money by selling financial products was enticing. However, I soon realized that the commission rates were extremely low. For every $50,000 worth of products I sold, I would only receive a $50 commission. It didn’t take long for me to do the math and realize that the amount of work I was putting in was not being fairly compensated.

But what was even more frustrating was the pressure to sell bad insurance products. As a bank employee, I was expected to meet certain sales targets every month. This meant that I had to push these insurance products onto clients, even if I didn’t believe they were the best option for them. I found myself in a constant internal struggle, torn between meeting my targets and doing what was best for my clients.I remember one instance where a client came to me for financial advice and I recommended a different insurance product that I believed would better suit their needs.

However, my manager overheard the conversation and pulled me aside, scolding me for not trying to sell the bank’s own insurance product. It was a frustrating and disheartening experience.I couldn’t continue working in an environment where my values and morals were constantly being compromised. I felt like I was no longer helping clients, but rather just trying to meet sales targets. It was not the kind of work I wanted to do.So, I made the difficult decision to quit. It wasn’t an easy choice, but I knew it was the right one for me. I am now working in a different industry, where I feel like I am making a positive impact and not just chasing after a commission. I have no regrets about leaving the bank and I am much happier in my new role.
