According to a court hearing, a man used stolen credit card details he found on Telegram and used it to book Taxi rides and order burger king.
32-year-old Muhammad Syawal Kamis was jailed 6 months 1 week after pleading guilty of cheating.
What Happen?
According to CNA, the man joined a Telegram group that contains details of stolen credit card information, he used the details of a credit card which is from the Bank of Oklahoma to register to his ComfortDelGro account.
After obtaining the details he used the credit card and tied it to his Burger King online and use it 7 times to order food amounting to SGD$225.40.
He also used the credit card to buy carton boxes worth SGD$26.
In a span of one month, he used the Taxi account to book taxi services 34 times until the card was rejected. A total of SGD$562.91 was reported as fraudulent transactions.
Reoffender
The court heard that the man was sentenced to jail back in 2003 for criminal breach of trust and theft.
The last time he was in jail was in November 2018 for cheating.
Syawal pleaded for a shorter sentence saying that he is the sole breadwinner of the family and he has a wife and daughter in Indonesia to feed.
He said in court: “I know my freedom is very difficult for me to achieve, I would continue from where I’ve started, where I’ve been with my wife and my daughter. Please give me a (lenient) punishment this time,”
