I used to be a hardworking person. I used to believe that success comes from hard work and dedication. I used to think that if I put in the effort, I could make something of myself. But I was wrong.
I have an ah beng friend who was quite useless, but he has a car and gf which I don’t have
I had an ah beng friend who I used to think was a good for nothing. He never worked hard and spent most of his time partying and having fun.
I used to think that he was going to end up with nothing. But then one day, I saw him driving a brand new Volkswagen Scirocco. He had a pretty girlfriend and was living the life that I wanted.
I began to question my beliefs about success and hard work. I thought that maybe it was better to be a good for nothing than to work hard.
After all, here was my ah beng friend with a nice car and a pretty girlfriend while I had nothing. I began to wonder if maybe there was a shortcut to success.
I spoke to my ah beng friend and he introduced me to his life and what he was dabbling in and he said that this was where he got all his money from and with money comes all sorts of pretty girls.
Decided to follow him but failed badly, realised not everyone is suited to be an ah beng
So, I decided to take the easy way and stop working hard.
I stopped working late hours and taking the initiative to do more, and instead I started partying and having fun and also dabble in the ‘businesses’ where my ah beng friend were also doing.
I thought that this would be the key to getting the life that I wanted.
Unfortunately, my plan didn’t work out. Even though I stopped working hard, I still had no car or girlfriend. I was still living the same life that I had been living before.
It is really true that not everyone can earn a fortune from dabbling in the businesses that the ah bengs do and some people are really better off doing the right things and holding a proper job.
I had wasted so much time, and for what? Nothing.
I realized that hard work was the only way to get the life that I wanted. I had been foolish in believing that it was better to be a good for nothing than to put in the effort.
I had wasted so much time and energy, and I was never going to get back what I had lost.
