I’d just like to share my friend experience with a vehicle rental company namely *company name redacted*.
So roughly what happened was that I was driving a rented vehicle going about and doing roundings roughly around 12am I came across a bend and the floor was wet at the time. The road limit is 40km/h as such I kept the road speed limit going around 35 to 40 km/h.
Before coming to a bend I applied my break and turned, however brake have failed and the vehicle skidded (Aquaplaning) colliding with the curb causing the vehicle right wheel to go inwards, at that point of time, vehicle was still drivable and I drove for a few metres before coming to a stop as noises from the vehicle’s body and the wheel rubbing against each other. I called for *company name redacted* services and it was still ok, tow services came and everything was good from then on.
I received a call from one of the *company name redacted* employee regarding the incident, at the point of time I was willing to pay for the vehicle repair cost as from my point of view, the vehicle was still not badly damaged, fixable and wouldn’t cost more than 2k. After talking with their employee, they added that I had to pay a total of nearly 5k due to the impact that causes internal damage. Mainly the repair fee is 3800. I had consulted with multiple of my acquaintances and I was informed that this is a possible scam however I am totally unaware and went to pay them the total cost of the damage.
The damage only causes the wheel to go inwards, exterior on the vehicle body or headlights was completely untouched or unharmed. I was hit with 8 different items that had to be replaced, 5 of which I understand and the remaining 3 I don’t know as to how it was affected by the impact as one of the three is the engine when the impact is on the side of the wheel.
