However, he received an enormous amount of backlash from netizens who commented on his post.

Here is what he said (SIC)

to all non muslim, its ok for you to consumed your food at the tables n chairs provided, but its also best if you can let us muslim to sit and have our break fast once you have finished eating rather then still sitting n chit chat.

To the organiser i have a suggestions, why dont you make a BIG poster to informed that by 630pm all tables n chair only for Muslim to breaking fast. Sorry for my broken English as passed sec 3 only kbye…

Netizens’ comments

  1. Sounds like my colleague who insisted customers should wait for him to break fast first before he can start serving drinks. Super entitled mentality
  2. When I wanted to break my fast at bazaar geylang, there wasn’t any available seats. It didn’t matter to me that I saw a non-muslim couple was still eating and chatting away. I just approached them and asked if we could stand and share the table. They nicely agreed. Just open your mouth and ask anyone there nicely if you could share the small space to place your food. Its bazaar geylang, expect that there will be such constraints.
  3. breaking fast outside definitely expected to experience the crowd therefore if you not prepare then buy and break fast at your own home please. not only you wants to feel the vibe and atmosphere, other races too wants to feel that once a year experience. thanks.
  4. Simple as it is, if you plan to break fast at the bazaar, come earlier la bro. “Choped” a table or 2 for your big family, unless you’re looking for nice fine dining, i suggest you should go book a restaurant. Let’s respect one another regardless of race or religion. Salam Ramadhan
  5. On behalf of the muslim, all non muslim are welcome to seat at any seat and at anytime comforts you. Lets share the love during this time of ramadhan
  6. Best is to just break fast at home. Don’t be self entitled. It’s a public space and anyone has the right to just sit and dine.
