When it comes to the appreciation of alcohol there are so many different kinds of standards but there are a few general guidelines most people follow.
There are those who drink to enjoy the alcohol and others who are drinking for the sake of showing they can or trying very hard to impress others.
Here is the story:
I worked in a bistro bar and we serve food and alcohol, one day this extremely large-sized man came in with two other women and asked if he could bring his own bottle of Martell Cordon Bleu to drink on premise, my manager reluctantly agreed.
So the man started to ask for coke to go with his Martell.
We were a bit dumbfounded cause an expensive liquor like Cordon Bleu is normally served with water or on the rocks.
We saw him pour coke into his Cordon Bleu and his lady friends also did so. Guess birds of the feathers flocked together.
One of our waiters asked him why did he drink it with coke, he answered: “I drink Cordon Bleu caused I atas”. Our waiter smiled and walked away. He sounded like a typical Hokkien ah beng and he was talking loudly with a lot of hand gestures trying to impress the ladies that were with him.
Really pattern more than badminton and he continued to talk loudly like it was his house and other customers were complaining.
We told him to keep it down but his ah beng pattern all come out.
Money really cannot buy class, even if you are drinking expensive liquor.
