MAN SAYS I DON’T KOWTOW TO SOCIAL EVENTS, BIRTHDAYS & CELEBRITIES TO GET RICH
Eh, today I tell you about one uncle, we call him Ah Boon. This fella very steady, but also a bit siao one — not the kind siao go clubbing or waste money type, hor. He always say, “I don’t kowtow to all these social events, birthdays, and celebrities lah. All these only make you spend time and money for nothing.”
You see, when people invite him to birthday party, wedding dinner, or some influencer event, he straight reject. Not because he anti-social, but he say time is money. While others dress up, buy present, and go take photo for Instagram, he at home doing research on stocks, flipping property listing, or calling suppliers for his small business.
One time his friend jio him to go see some K-pop concert, say got free ticket somemore. Ah Boon laugh and tell me, “Aiya, you think go there can make me richer ah? While you screaming for idol, I screaming for my stock price to go up.” End up, that same night he close one deal, make almost $3,000 profit.
Time Is Either Wasted or Invested
Ah Boon’s thinking is simple: every hour got two choices — waste it or invest it. Most people don’t realise, while they are chit-chatting over buffet or queuing for celebrity autograph, somewhere else got someone grinding harder to get richer. And that “someone” is usually the one they later envy.
He always remind us: “Money is like water, must keep flowing in. But time is like air, once gone, you cannot catch back.” So he make it a rule — no attending events unless can network for business, learn new skills, or close deal.
Why Some People Always Stagnant
He say those who forever stagnant got one common problem — spend too much time on “useless stuff” that cannot grow their value. It’s not just about money, also about energy. You drain your energy on small talk and birthday cake, then no juice left to chase big opportunities.
So next time you tempted to waste weekend on something that won’t benefit you, remember Ah Boon’s words — “While you wasting time, somewhere got rich person working harder to get richer.” And hor… maybe that rich person could have been you.
