Singaporeans have always been a bit picky about where to go for meals. We’ve been known to gravitate towards finer establishments, whether it’s a restaurant or a cafe, in order to impress our dates.
However, I believe that if Singapore’s weather wasn’t so hot and humid, more of us would be willing to try something a bit different and take our dates out to a kopitiam instead.
Kopitiams are a great place to share a meal with someone. The atmosphere is usually quite relaxed and it’s usually quite affordable. The food is usually quite tasty and there are a variety of dishes to choose from.
There is something quite special about having a meal at a kopitiam. Many of us would have fond memories of visiting the kopitiam with our family and friends, so the memories of these times can be shared with our date.
Since it is usually quite crowded, it is easy to have a conversation without having to worry about being overheard. It also allows for a more relaxed atmosphere, which is always a plus for a first date.
Too hot
However, the hot and humid weather in Singapore often puts people off from wanting to go out and enjoy a meal at a kopitiam. We all know how uncomfortable it can be to be out in the heat and humidity, so it is understandable why some people might not want to go out if they don’t have to.
My suggestion is that if we want to make kopitiams a more attractive option for first dates, we should try to make them more comfortable. Air-conditioning is always a plus, but it is not always possible to have this in a kopitiam.
We can also try to make the kopitiams more attractive by adding more seating and creating a more inviting atmosphere. This can be done by adding plants, artwork, or decorations to make the place more inviting.
I believe that if Singapore’s weather wasn’t so hot and humid, more people would be willing to take their dates out to a kopitiam.
