I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way, but I’m done with team-building events.
I’ve been working at this company for a few years now, and every year they make us go on some sort of team-building activity.
It’s always the same thing: group activities, trust falls, ice-breakers, and so on.
At first, I thought it was kind of fun. I mean, it was a nice break from the day-to-day grind. But now, I’m just done with it. It’s such a waste of time. Nobody seems to care about it. We all just go through the motions. We just try to get it over with so we can get back to work.
The problem is that team-building events don’t actually build teams. We’re just going through the motions, but nothing ever changes. We all just go back to our desks and continue working the same way we did before. It’s like the team-building exercises never happened.
I think the main reason why team-building events don’t work is because they don’t take into account the personalities of the people in the group. Everyone is so different, and the activities are so generic. They don’t take into account individual needs or preferences. It’s like they’re trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
Forced
Another thing that bothers me about team-building events is the fact that they’re so forced. We’re all just acting like we’re having a good time, but nobody really is. We all just want to get it over with. It’s like the company is forcing us to do something we don’t want to do.
Finally, I think team-building events are a waste of money. The company spends a lot of money on these activities, but it doesn’t really benefit anyone. We all just go home feeling exhausted and still not feeling any closer to our coworkers.
So, that’s why I’m done with team-building events. I don’t think they help build teams, and I don’t think they’re worth the money. It’s just a waste of time and energy. Nobody cares about these activities, and no one ever gets anything out of them. So, it’s time to move on and focus on other things.
