The incident took place at Block 539 Bedok North Street 3, where officers were called in at about 3.25pm following reports of a man behaving erratically while carrying a potentially dangerous weapon in a public area.

According to the Singapore Police Force, officers arrived at the scene and repeatedly instructed the man to put down the saw. However, he allegedly refused to comply and continued shouting incoherently despite multiple warnings.

Police Deploy Taser To Bring Situation Under Control

To prevent the situation from escalating and ensure public safety, officers deployed a Taser to subdue the man.

Police said the move was necessary to de-escalate the situation and safely contain the individual, who was allegedly armed and behaving unpredictably.

After being immobilised, the man was arrested for public nuisance, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and suspected consumption of a controlled drug.

He was subsequently taken conscious to Changi General Hospital for medical assessment. No other injuries were reported during the incident.

Video Shows Large Police Presence

Videos circulating on social media showed a significant police presence at the scene, with multiple officers surrounding an individual on a road divider.

At least seven police officers could be seen in the footage, while some officers appeared to be equipped with tactical gear and rifles as a precautionary measure.

The videos later showed a man wearing a grey T-shirt, blue jeans and slippers seated upright on a stretcher before being taken away from the area.

Drug-Related Investigations Ongoing

Police said the suspected drug-related offence has been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for further investigation.

The authorities have not disclosed whether any controlled substances were found in the man’s possession, and investigations remain ongoing.

The incident attracted attention from residents and passers-by due to the visible police operation in the usually quiet residential estate. Authorities have reminded members of the public to stay away from potentially dangerous situations and to alert emergency services immediately if they encounter individuals carrying weapons or behaving aggressively in public places.

The case remains under investigation.
