Facebook user Baz Bakhtiar recently posted on the Facebook page Complaint Singapore after getting a shock of his life after receiving his electricity bill for January. The bill came up to $1,184.66 for the month of January.
Here is the full story.
This month’s bill came, and what a shocker! To set the context we are a young couple staying in a 4-room hdb flat , we rented from hdb while waiting for our BTO.

There is only 2 of us and the usual appliances. When I called SP i was told that the meter reading was done in January and accounts for 10months since the last meter reading.
It was supposedly more than the estimate and hence its been added into this month’s bill. I had been paying my bills on time and its roughly about $100-&120 a month.
I had 2 questions:
1) did they actually think it was okay to lump 10month’s worth of electricity usage into one bill and expect the home owner to pay?
2) should they review their processes. Accordingly the bill suggests a gross underestimate of previous bills, which had been paid.
Now it just seems like ive been holding a block party every other day
