A man shared a story about how his colleague accidentally exposed himself after wearing fake gold.

For gold, some people treat it as an investment while some wear it as a kind of geomancy or luck item, but there is one last group who wears it to show off.

Here is the story:

I have this colleague (let’s call him Mr Hao Lian) that always comes to the office and is covered with jewellery and branded items. Sometimes we wondered how real those items are as we are drawing similar salaries.

So we had a company outing recently, and the boss treat us to have a meal at a restaurant in a private room in Chinatown.

There was a lot of food and alcohol and we started to eat and drink. Late into the night, a few of my colleagues left but Mr Hao Lian was still there. As usual, showing off not just what he’s wearing but also how good a drinker he is.

We were on the second floor of the shophouse and Mr Hao Lian wanted to go buy some cigarettes, he tripped and rolled down the stairs.

My boss and I heard a loud noise and we went out of the room and see Mr Hao Lian landing on the 1st floor.

We quickly went to help him and we notice that his gold bracelet had a section that chipped off and it revealed a silver metal colour.

He got up fine but my boss and I saw the fake gold and started laughing.

Mr Hao Lian suddenly said that he was going home and went to take a Grab. My boss and I continued to drink and we were laughing that most probably all of his gold are fake including his watches.

The following Monday, he pulled me aside and told me not to tell anyone about the gold chain we saw.

But I told him: “sorry, boss told everyone already”.

He quit the company 2 weeks later.
