Last week, I was at a party with some of my friends and I decided to show off a bit.
I pulled out my American Express Black Card and started bragging about all the awesome benefits it gave me. I was really proud of it, and I wanted everyone to know that I was living a high life.
The card wasn’t actually mine. It belonged to my father.
I had completely forgotten that my dad had given me his card as he asked me if I could pick up a few things while I was out and he had given me the card to pay for them. I guess I just got so caught up in the moment that I completely forgot that the card wasn’t mine.
Needless to say, when I pulled out the card and started bragging about it, everyone was a bit taken aback. They knew I was the son of a wealthy businessman, but they didn’t expect me to be so ostentatious about it.
I quickly realized my mistake and tried to explain the situation, but it was too late. My friends had already made up their minds about me and it was pretty embarrassing.
The next day, my dad called me and asked me about the card. He had already heard about my little stunt and he wasn’t too happy about it. He told me that I needed to be more responsible with his things and that I had embarrassed him in front of his business associates.
Needless to say, I felt really bad about what had happened. I apologized to my dad and promised that it would never happen again.
