A video emerged online showing a man vandalizing a stranger’s car that was parked on the side of the road for no reason, smashing his bonnet and knocking off his side mirror.
The incident happened at Geylang Lorong 1.
The man then made a police report after the incident, and his report read:
“I was having supper around the area and had discovered at around 4 am. that the vehicle that I had rented was damaged.
Upon checking the car dashcam, it was recorded that a group of 4 male individuals were hanging around in front of my vehicle.
Out of the 4 male individuals. 1 male subject had started hitting the hood of my car violently, subsequently also hitting off the side mirror of the car as well.
Afterwards. This group of 4 male individuals then continued talking about damaging my car.
Subsequently, they boarded a taxi together and left.”
Potential penalties
Persons found guilty of vandalism, under the Vandalism Act, faces a fine of up to $2,000 or a jail term of up to 3 years and caning of between 3 to 8 strokes.
