Canceling plans

There are very few things more upsetting/embarrassing to me than having to cancel free plans with friends simply because I can’t afford to get there.
just had to do this for the 1000th time. (Do I win a prize?!). When this happens it ruins my day, makes me embarrassed to contact my friends again, and surely makes my friends more alternative to make plans with me thus damaging my relationships in the process.
Being poor is a life destroyer.

- If you let them know hey i literally cant afford to right now you wont seem like a flake if theyre good friends theyll understand. Iused to be in your spot and i still have th3 same friend group.
- Being poor sucks. I know it’s difficult, but you should tell them the truth. Real friends won’t think less of you because you’re poor.
- Next time invite them to your place or hang out right after work somewhere, so that you don’t have to do any extra travelling.
- I feel you. It’s put a strain on a lot of my friendships. I’m the only one of my close friend group in the situation. They all understand, but it can be awkward if they all go together to dinner, or a movie. They feel awkward so they don’t tell me, but then I feel bad they were thinking I couldn’t handle it.
- I’m in the same boat, I know it can be so dismal and discouraging. A few times I have opened up, my friends wanted me to come along so badly, they all sent me $10 to spend time with them.
