A man was charged after he spat and pinch his ex-wife outside a kindergarten after having an argument.
The man faces a total of 3 charges. He was charged with one count of voluntarily causing hurt to others with the other 2 charges taken into consideration during sentencing.
According to court documents, the incident happened on the 20 Feb 2019. On that day, the victim received a call from her daughter’s kindergarten informing her that her ex-husband was outside the kindergarten and wanted to meet her daughter.
The victim agreed to her ex-husband request over the phone before heading to the kindergarten from her office.
Halfway through the meeting, the man and the victim had an argument. The man then spat in the victim’s face and pinch her in the neck. The man became even more violent as they continue with their argument. The man kicked the victim in the process and only stopped after they were interfered by a passerby.
The kindergarten staff alerted the police after the incident.
During the hearing, the defence lawyer stated that the man is suffering from depression and his action was caused by the man’s mental illness. The defence lawyer then said that a report from the Institution of Mental Health (IMH) has recommended community sentence for the man in order for him to continue his treatment.
After the man pleaded guilty, the judge agreed to the defence lawyer’s request and order the man to go through a mandatory psychological test.
The sentencing is adjourned to 20 Aug 2020.
