My friend had just come back from a trip to visit a fengshui master for fortune telling. He had spent a lot of money there and, as I soon found out, most of it had gone on buying Fengshui charms.
He said to me, “It has healing properties, it can cure all sickness and diseases.”
Spent $5,000 buying all these charms, thinking it would help him
I was skeptical about it, but I decided not to go all out and scold him for doing it. Instead, I asked him how come it did not cure his dumb brain. He laughed and said that it was too late for that, as he had already spent five thousand dollars buying the charms.
My friend was never a believer in science and logic, so it was not a surprise that he was so easily fooled. I had tried to talk sense into him, but all of my attempts had been in vain.
He tried to justify his actions, saying that the charms had worked for others and that this was why he had spent so much money on them. I reminded him that he had no proof that they actually worked.
My friend was adamant that the charms would work if the need arises and he was determined to prove it. He took them everywhere with him and even wore them to bed.
It seemed like he spent $5,000 to get the placebo effect and well honestly if he is happy and willing to part with the money, then the choice is up to him right?
Even tried to use it on his dog who was ill
Shortly after, his pet dog fell ill.
He brought the dog to the vet once but stopped after he made the dog wear the charms because he was still convinced of its ‘supernatural’ properties.
Well, it was a sad ending to his superstitions as his pet dog eventually passed on.
My friend then tried to justify and protect his beliefs, saying that maybe the charm did not work because the wearer was not a human.
I wonder when will he ever learn……
