The grim discovery was made by a resident who was looking for their lost dog, when they stumbled upon the house with the carcasses.

Korean animal rights group Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) posted a disturbing video of the dead bodies inside the house.

The group had visited the house, located in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi, South Korea; where the elderly man had allegedly starved countless dogs to death over a period of more than three years.

CARE said that the rotting dog bodies had formed a layer on the ground, and live dogs were kept inside cases on top of the decomposing bodies.

The dogs were also forced to eat other dogs that had died in order to survive, and CARE also found sulls and dead bodies piled up in various places throughout the house, including being stored inside barrels in the yard.

Miraculously, four surviving dogs were found inside the house among the decomposing bodies, with all of them suffering from either malnutrition or skin diseases, with two of them being in critical condition.

The dogs have since been sent to veterinary hospitals for treatment.

an elderly man in his 60s who lives there, is being investigated by the police for allegedly violating animal protection law.

He had confessed to collecting dogs that were abandoned, and starving them to death; but CARE refuted his claims and said that he had received the dogs from dog breeders because they were too old or small to breed and their commercial value had gone down.

CARE said that the man was allegedly paid 10,000 won (or SGD$10,30) per dog to take care of them, and he then went on to lock the dogs up and starve them to death.
