A netizen shared CCTV footage of his home where a man was spotted behaving suspiciously before stealing a pair of slippers from an HDB unit.
This is commonly known as “block shopping” where a thief will go along corridors of HDB units to steal shoes or slippers.
The man was seen standing suspiciously outside an HDB unit on the 1st floor for no good reason and he was seen smoking, he looked around and checked if anyone was looking at him as he slowly moves closer to the unit.
Although he checked left and right but he did not notice that there was a camera in his face.
He then made off with two pairs of slippers which resemble Adidas slippers.
A netizen pointed out that he probably has a liking for the smell of other people’s feet and brings it home to sniff and satisfy his desires.
Penalties:
The offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries a jail term of up to 3 years, or a fine, or both.
