MAN SUBSCRIBED TO GRABFOOD FOR $6 PER MTH, FIND OUT SUBSCRIBERS GET CHARGED MORE

Facebook user Theng Wei Gan shared how he subscribed to GrabUnlimited for $5.99 per month because of the perks that he initially thought was attractive at first.

However, he later found out that the service fees for GrabUnlimited users were increased by $2.50, based on an experiment that he did using two accounts, one GrabUnlimited and one normal account.

Here is what he said

Some time last year, I subscribed to GrabUnlimited on the Grab app. Since I had been ordering food delivery quite frequently, I thought the perks were very attractive. I paid $5.99 per month, and in return, $3 was deducted from the total bill each time I ordered food using the app.

Recently, I read somewhere online that there’s a difference in delivery fee between standard and GrabUnlimited users. So we did an experiment today.

We used 2 phones, one standard and the other GrabUnlimited subscriber(my phone), to order the same food at the same time. Interestingly, the service fees were $2.50 more for the order on my phone. (Pls see photos)

Yes, there’s still a $0.50 saving for me, the GrabUnlimited subscriber. Just tell people it’s $0.50 savings, not $3 lah. I may be wrong, but it does sound like misrepresentation to me.

I didn’t bother contacting Grab or GrabFood , because I can expect their standard template replies. That there’s no price discrimination, price difference is due to different market conditions, discrepancies may be due to use of different devices, blah blah blah.

I have immediately cancelled my GrabUnlimited subscription. And I’m probably going to stop using Grab services from now onwards. This experiment has left a bad taste in our mouths.
