Jiang Hongtao, 45, decided to take a DNA test after a heated confrontation with his eldest son, who attacked him and shouted, “You are not my father.” The results revealed a devastating truth: neither his eldest nor youngest son shared his DNA.

Father Demands Compensation After Betrayal

Jiang, who married in 2002, believed he was the father of two boys born in 2004 and 2014. However, suspicions arose following years of marital strain, which ended in divorce in 2022. During the divorce settlement, his ex-wife received all marital property, leaving Jiang only with a car.

In September last year, tensions reignited when his ex-wife and the two boys turned up at his home demanding property and money. The confrontation escalated into physical violence when his eldest son, Jiang Runze, choked him. That incident pushed Jiang to secretly test his son’s DNA using a toothbrush, only to learn the painful truth. A second test later revealed his youngest son was also unrelated to him biologically.

Feeling deceived and robbed of nearly two decades of support, Jiang has taken his ex-wife to court, demanding 300,000 yuan (around S$58,000) in compensation for child-rearing and education expenses.

Claims of Infidelity Spark Public Debate

Jiang now alleges that his eldest son was fathered by the village secretary, while his younger son was conceived with his cousin. The scandal has stirred heated debates online, with many sympathising with Jiang’s plight and condemning the betrayal. Others have questioned the emotional toll such revelations will have on the children, who grew up believing Jiang was their father.

The case highlights the deep personal and financial consequences of infidelity, while also raising questions about parental responsibility, legal rights, and family loyalty. As the lawsuit unfolds, the story has gripped millions across Chinese social media, fuelling discussions about marriage, trust, and justice in modern society.
