A video emerged online on the Taiwanese social media platform Dcard, showing a man in Taiwan showing off his new barcode tattoo.
He shared a video of his tattoo – an e-invoice app barcode that was tattooed onto his forearm.
He captioned his post that he wanted to tattoo the barcode of the e-invoice app account onto his body because he found it leceh (troublesome) to take out his phone every time he needed to make payments.
he also shared a video of himself putting his barcode tattoo to use, by scanning it at a petrol station and convenience stores.
He was seen in the videos showing his barcode tattoo to the workers who used the card skimmers to scan his forearm.
And it actually worked as the scanners beeped, and the amount that was paid was successfully reflected on the cashier’s screen.
He posted a photo of his tattoo on Instagram as well, thanking his tattoo artist for his work and he also urged others who wanted to do the same, to find a tattoo artist who can draw the barcode with precision because a slight misdrawing would render the barcode unusable.
He also warned others not to get the tattoo saying that the lines will fade over time and that the barcodes won’t work anymore.
