Most Singaporeans are poor trying to act rich
Most Singaporeans are poor trying to act rich.
I’m a multi millionaire, run several businesses. Amongst my circle of friends, we secretly judge and laugh at the poor trying to act like one of us. Here are some signs.
Watches – entry level rolexes are for poor people. Any average joe can just shell out 10k – 20k for a rolex. Rich people either go for the Trinity or other non entry brands, or rolex in precious metals. Starting price for a piece in this tier is usually 35k.
Bags – rich people don’t go around parading advertisements for prada, lv or gucci. Entry level is a Hermes here.
Food – rich people don’t eat at atas restaurants. Basically if you earn less than $360k a year and are able to dine in the particular establishment, the real rich don’t dine there. They go for privacy, vibes and experience. They are usually at a members only club or private rooms. The poor spend $300 per pax on dinner and flexes on Instagram. The rich spend thousands and call it a Tuesday night.
Cars – rich people won’t buy low end cars just for the brand. Eg, they will never buy a coe porsche that’s 20 years old. They will rather go for a brand new continental car. The only time they’ll buy an old car is if its a collectable. Your ferrari, lambo, GTRs etc..
Properties – some of them do stay in HDBs. It’s the smart thing to do, as you will receive subsidies + vouchers and you can blend in with the masses. Stay in a landed and everyone will know you are rich and want to be your friend. The rich value privacy and anonymity so we can be exclusive in our friendships. HDBs ironically provide the most privacy. Of course some of us do live in landed + condo too la.
So yea, it’s quite pathetic to see peasants trying to fit in and make friends with us. We rather make friends with a genuine poor person than one trying to act like they belong
