MAN THINKS THAT CHRISTMAS GIFT EXCHANGE IN OFFICE IS A WASTE OF MONEY

I really hate Christmas gift exchanges in the office.

Nobody has any good ideas on what gifts to buy so they always buy things that we don’t need like more cups, towels and shower gel.

There was one year when my colleague actually got back what she bought cos another person also gave the same thing.

Stupid right?

As if this is not wasteful enough, every year the budget for the gift exchange keeps increasing and we have to spend more and more money to exchange things that we don’t want.

Why must torture ourselves like this? It’s not about how much money I have. Even if I’m damn rich, I also don’t want to partake in this nonsense and waste good money.

Why can’t we all just go out for a good meal and call it a day?

Supposed to be a happy celebration but always end up last minute stressing over it… Sigh

Waste of money

Christmas gift exchanges in the office is a waste of money As someone who works in an office, I’ve been fortunate to have experienced many different kinds of Christmas gift exchanges. From the traditional Secret Santa to the less conventional “White Elephant” gift exchange, it always seems like everyone is looking forward to a fun and festive way to spread cheer and holiday cheer in the office. But when it comes down to it, I can’t help but feel that these Christmas gift exchanges are a huge waste of money.

First of all, the cost of participating in a gift exchange can quickly add up. Depending on the budget set by the office, participants can be expected to spend anywhere from $10 to $50 or more on a gift. And if you’re in a large office or company, these costs can quickly add up. Even if the budget is set at $10, it can still add up to hundreds of dollars when you factor in how many people are participating.

Not only that, but there’s also the issue of fairness. While some people may have a larger budget to work with, others may have to skimp on their gifts in order to stay within their budget. This means that some people may end up with better gifts than others, which can lead to feelings of envy and resentment.

Another issue that I have with Christmas gift exchanges in the office is that they often don’t lead to meaningful connections between co-workers. When you’re exchanging gifts, you’re often focused on choosing the perfect gift for the person you’re picking for, rather than taking the time to get to know them. This can lead to superficial connections and relationships, which aren’t really valuable in the long run.

Finally, I think that Christmas gift exchanges in the office can actually be a distraction from the true meaning of Christmas. Instead of focusing on the spirit of giving, these exchanges can become more about competition and comparison. This can take away from the joy and goodwill that should be the focus of the holiday season.

For all of these reasons, I believe that Christmas gift exchanges in the office are a waste of money. Instead of spending money on gifts, I think it would be better to use that money to give back to the community or to support a cause that’s important to everyone in the office. This would be a much more meaningful and impactful way to spread cheer and goodwill during the holiday season.

In conclusion, while Christmas gift exchanges in the office can be a fun way to spread cheer and holiday cheer, I ultimately believe that they are a waste of money. Instead of spending money on gifts, I think it would be better to find ways to give back to the community and support a cause that’s important to everyone in the office. This would be a much more meaningful and impactful way to spread holiday cheer.
