At about 8 pm on June 14 2020, the defendant smoked in the living room. The victim Lee Lee Cheng told him not to smoke in the house as she did not like the smoke smell, this lead to a dispute between the couple.
The defendant started to behave aggressively and the victim reminds the defendant that she has a personal protection order issued by the court. The protection order was issued in 1998 after a similar dispute happened back then.
The defendant take it that the wife is using the protection order to threaten her and became even more aggressive. He then went to the kitchen and took two knives one that is 27 cm long and the other 15cm long. He pointed at the victim with the weapon and shouted that he will chop her.
“I will cut off your head later.”
The victim who heard this threat stayed calm and quiet and finally the defendant was able to calm down and return the knives to the kitchen.
According to the case, the defendant quarrelled with the victim that day, suddenly grabbed the victim’s chest and scratched her left cheek. The victim’s upper lip was bleeding and her chest was painful.
The defendant has multiple cases of deliberately seriously hurting others and violating the personal protection order. The prosecution urged the judge to sentence to 18 months in prison. The defendant pleaded that he would live with his son and mother after being released from prison, and would not live with his wife. His mother is old and in a wheelchair.
It is not the first time that defendant Tung See Wah has violently attacked his 61-year-old wife Lee Lee Cheng. He today admitted to three charges of intimidation, intentional injury and violation of personal protection orders.
The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison.
