Major Drug Bust in Singapore: Foreign National Arrested for Trafficking

In a significant operation conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), a 30-year-old male foreign national was arrested for suspected drug trafficking on June 12, 2025. Attempted Escape and Discovery of Drugs

Upon noticing the officers, the man abandoned his e-bike and attempted to flee the scene. During the pursuit, he was observed discarding a bag into the Kallang River. Officers quickly retrieved the bag, which contained approximately 2,004 grams of cannabis and 518 grams of methamphetamine, commonly referred to as “Ice.” The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is around S$110,200, enough to sustain the addiction of approximately 580 drug users for a week.

Arrest and Follow-Up Operations

Following the initial encounter, CNB was able to establish the suspect’s identity and conducted a follow-up operation on the afternoon of June 12. The man was arrested at the entrance of a condominium near Kampong Eunos. During the arrest, officers escorted him to his residential unit, where they seized various drug paraphernalia, further implicating him in drug-related activities.

Legal Implications of Drug Trafficking

The CNB has reiterated the seriousness of drug trafficking offenses in Singapore. It is illegal for any individual to traffic in controlled substances, whether on their own behalf or on behalf of others, regardless of their location. The penalties for drug trafficking are severe, with individuals convicted of trafficking more than 250 grams of methamphetamine or 500 grams of cannabis facing the mandatory death penalty.

Ongoing Investigations

As investigations into the suspect’s drug activities continue, the CNB remains committed to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of the community. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by drug-related crimes and the importance of law enforcement’s vigilance in addressing these issues. The CNB encourages the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to help maintain a drug-free environment in Singapore.
