Man Trapped in Passenger Seat Dies After Lorry Collision on CTE in Singapore
A fatal lorry collision on the Central Expressway (CTE) left a 34-year-old man dead on 25 June 2025. The passenger was trapped inside the vehicle after a serious crash involving two lorries along the CTE towards the Seletar Expressway (SLE), near the Braddell Road exit.
According to authorities, the accident occurred at approximately 1:55 pm when the lorry, driven by a 24-year-old man, collided with another lorry traveling on the same stretch of road. The force of the impact caused one lorry to overturn onto the shoulder of the expressway, scattering cargo along the road.
Emergency services, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), were quickly dispatched to the scene. Rescue teams used hydraulic equipment to extract the passenger, who was trapped in the passenger seat and found unconscious. He was immediately conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital but sadly passed away despite medical efforts.
The driver of the lorry the victim was in has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing death, a serious traffic offence under Singapore law. The driver of the second lorry, a 32-year-old man, was also taken to hospital but remained conscious and is assisting with police investigations, reported Lianhe Zaobao.
Scene of the CTE Accident and Police Response
When reporters from Lianhe Zaobao visited the crash site, they saw a white lorry lying on its side along the road shoulder, with cargo items strewn across the area. The other damaged lorry was parked in the middle of the expressway, its left side severely dented and windshield shattered.
The accident caused significant disruption along the busy CTE, prompting a swift response by police and SCDF personnel to clear the scene and manage traffic flow.
Police have confirmed that investigations into the exact cause of the collision are ongoing, and they are gathering witness statements and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
Context and Road Safety Reminder
