A guy shared a story of how he had tried gambling for a day and ended up losing his savings from working a side job all away.
He mentions that he had never gamble before in his whole life and decided to just try it out one day and now regrets his decision.
Here is the story
“Soooo… Today I became a gambling addict for about 5 hours. Essentially I have never been well off and people have been congratulating me on saving up over $4000 this year after finally getting myself some part time employment after this awful past 2 years.
I have never been good with money and never had much and I have had to miss out on all the things my friends do for fun over the years.
I am single and alone so have no responsibilities so have no guilt in my bad habits but realise I could be much better off.
I worked hard the last 6 months and felt good I had saved this amount. Then for some reason today I decided to place a bet in a casino. I have never gambled before in my life, nothing properly anyway.
I won and I got over $400 in return! It suddenly felt like easy money but I was ‘sensible’ and started reducing my bets to about $30 and I was winning and losing to the point where I was still above my initial $4000 by a couple of hundred for the next few hours.
Then… I don’t know…. I just flipped and thought to myself that I’d split all my money into 2 bets as I was roughly winning 50% and that with 2 bets I could win fairly big…. So I put $2000 on a bet and I lost it.
I whacked my remaining $2,000 on another game and also lost it.
I then just sat and stared into space for an hour. I actually started laughing uncontrollably for about 10 minutes before I felt very sick dumb. I am now broke!
So…. I have been a gambling addict for a day and now will never touch it again.
I don’t want to tell anyone about my foolishness but after boasting about my savings to people they now all think I’ll be buying myself nice stuff and going to expensive restaurants with them….
Nope. Not for a long time!”
