MAN TRIES TO BREAK INTO BOON KENG MAXI-CASH BY IMITATING VIDEOS

A man tried his luck at breaking a pawn shop’s glass window after watching videos online. He attempted to break into the shop on several occasions but failed to break in each time. But the CCTV managed to capture his actions.

Zaobao reported that he was eventually jailed for 5 months.

What happened

Su Bing Liang, an unemployed man who is staying in a rental realised that he was penniless and he went out for a walk and arrived at Boon Keng MRT where he saw a Maxi-Cash branch. He noticed that a large gold chain was on display with a price tag of over $10,000 and he got the greedy idea to steal it.

He went home and started researching how to break in glass cabinets on Youtube and returned a few days later on October 2 but he did not do it.

On October 4 he went to the pawnshop again a 3 AM but took a look and left without trying.

The next day, October 5, he finally was ready to do it, he covered his face with a cap and went to the pawnshop at 3 AM and tried to break the glass cabinet with a hammer after confirming that no one was there.

Even smashing the glass panel 4 times the glass did not break and only a small crack appear, he continued his attempt by hitting the glass panel with his elbows and knees and finally gave up.

How he got caught

The next day, an employee of Maxi-Cash noticed that there was a crack in the glass and contacted the Police. The Police reviewed the CCTV footage and arrested him in less than 12 hours.
