The charges faced by Chua are under the Infectious Disease Act, as he had risked the safety of others by exposing them to the possibility of contracting the Covid-19.

He was given MC by a doctor in Bukit Batok, and told to stay home from August 23 to August 27 last year after being diagnosed by the doctor to be suffering from upper respiratory tract infection.

His alleged movements

  1. Took a Grab on 27 August to visit his grandmother at her home in Bukit Batok.
  2. Took another Grab to buy lunch at a coffee shop before heading home.
  3. On a separate incident where he was asked to stay home between Dec 6 to Dec 8 last year after being diagnosed with acute respiratory infection, he took a taxi to meet his friend at Jalan Sultan instead of going home immediately.
  4. Took another cab to Balestier to meet his friend for dessert.
  5. Went to Geylang to have Frog Leg Porridge with same friend.

There will be a hearing on Dec 3 to review his warrant of arrest.

If he is found guilty and convicted for his actions, he could be jailed up to six months, fined up to $10,000 or both for each individual charge under the Infections Disease Act.
