When asked about it, the security guard said that the wrong unit number was recorded and they clamped his car for “trespassing”.

Here is what he said

On Sat 13th May, I came to visit my sister who lives in INZ RESIDENCE at Chua Chu Kang Ave 5 for a family gathering. We reached approximately 1900 hrs, where we told the guard we are visiting her unit. After registration, we proceed to our family gathering at the BBQ pit.

As the environment was rather noisy and warm, I was unable to hear or feel my phone vibrate while preparing food for BBQ. At 21:18, I checked my phone and noticed I had 18 missed calls from a number 69081072, so I called back and learnt that my vehicle was wheel clamped.

So we approached INZ RESIDENCE security. I was told that we had breached their security protocol for giving the wrong unit number, where the MA decided to wheel clamp my vehicle for tresspassing. Despite my brother in law who came with me to clarify that we were genuine visitors, I had to pay $107 to release the wheel clamp because the security guard recorded the wrong unit number and deemed that we were misusing their parking system.

1. At the security registration, My wife was on the passenger side, and I clearly heard her reported the unit number where my sister lives. It was INZ RESIDENCE security personnel who made the wrong report.

2. We did not give our name or contact no. Yet the security personnel was able to record my name and call me. Which means INZ RESIDENCE security already has my name and contact in their records, and would know that my sister’s unit number is the only one I would visit.

3. My brother in law came with me to the security guardhouse to clarify that we are not tresspassers but genuine visitors to the estate who followed the rules and parked at their designated visitor lot. But the security personnel refused to call to their MA for permission to release the wheelclamp.

Conclusion is, I had to pay $107 because INZ RESIDENCE security made a mistake by recording the wrong unit number. I did call back at 21:18, and went to the guard house with my brother in law to testify that we were not tresspassers, there is no need for wheelclamp. And even if they wheelclamp, there must be protocol to resolve misunderstandings like these.

It is either this condo has ridiculous by laws that are unreasonably strict, or security guards are riding on the strict by laws to punish whomever they dislike or less prefer. There is injustice in our condo management system and our government should step in with protocols to protect residents and visitors from such dictatorship style private regulations.

Update 01: [ I Normally don’t really check the parking slip issued by condo security coz I never had any issues with it. Admit I took that for granted and I should check in the future. The unit no #06-04 in my photos is the wrong unit no. I did not disclose my sister’s unit no for privacy issue.Hope this clarifies.]

Update 02: [ In the photo of the receipt, you can check the reason for Wheel clamp is not for parking at resident’s lots, but stated “Unidentified Unit Num”. Just to answer those who suspect that I parked at resident’s lot, got wheelclamped and become unhappy about it. No, I parked at designated Visitor’s Lot as instructed]
