MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY BEAT UP BUS CAPTAIN CHARGED

According to a media release, the man who had allegedly beat up a bus captain has been charged in court today (17 Sept) with one count of voluntarily causing hurt to others.

The incident happened on the 15 Sept 2020 at about 2.45 pm along Pasir Ris Drive 1. Ja’afally Abdul Rahim, 52, was also charged with one count of possessing an offensive weapon a 6 cm-long blade knife.

Currently, the man was out on bail for $15,000 and will return to court on 08 Oct 2020. If convicted of voluntarily causing hurt to others, the man could face a jail term for up to three years, fine up to $5,000 or both.

If convicted for possessing an offensive weapon, he could face a jail term up to three years with a minimum six strokes of the cane.
