A man who cannot be named due to a court order to protect the victims aged 17 and 18 has been sentenced to imprisonment for two years and nine months for molesting his grand daughter.
He has pleaded guilty to three counts of outrage of modesty and a charge of exploitative sexual communication with a minor, with five other similar charges taken into consideration.
Details of his crime
October 2019 was the first incident of his alleged crime. The man kissed his granddaughter on the mouth and made her perform a sexual act on him when his wife was out at work.
He demanded her to keep silent and she complied because she was afraid of him.
He did this again two months later when she sought refuge in his home after her mother had chased her out after a quarrel.
This time, he asked her to perform a sex act, kissed her on her mouth and molested her chest with her clothes on.
Sometime in the same year, the victim’s younger sister also moved in and he asked her for sex.
He walked around the flat naked when his wife was not around.
Finally got caught
The older sister could not take it in January 2020, and confided in her aunt, who in turn told his wife about it.
The wife confronted him and he promised not to do it again but soon continued with his actions.
On March 12, he showed a p*rnographic video to the older girl while she was having dinner and molested her.
She pushed him away and ran out of the flat and made a police report two days later.
Previous conviction
His sexual crimes dates back to 1987, where he was fined S$1,500 for possession of obscene videos.
In 1999, he committed sexual crimes towards his daughter and four of her friends aged 13 to 17.
He was convicted of two counts of rape, molestation and carnal intercourse against the order of nature for his crimes and sentenced to a total of 12 years jail and 12 strokes of the cane.
He could have been jailed up to two years or fined or caned or receive any combination of the three.
For exploitative sexual communication with a minor, he could have been jailed up to two years or fined or both.
