Goh An Soon, 20, was given 21 months probation yesterday for trespassing into an NUS dormitory to steal women’s undergarments; and he has to attend offence specific treatment programmes and perform 60 hours of community service as part of his sentence.
Goh pleaded guilty to one count each of misappropriating property and trespassing.
District Judge May Mesenas said that Goh was assessed to have a “moderate” risk of reoffending,
Background
Goh admitted to repeatedly stealing bag of laundry frm a hall in NUS whenever he felt the urge to look at women’s undergarments.
He was a student at the time of the offences.
The undergarments he stole included:
- Two bras from a washing machine,
- Four panties in a laundry bag from another washing machine,
- A pair of black shorts hung along a corridor,
- A sports bra and underwear in a laundry bag
- Two pairs of panties, a bar and some socks from a common corridor
Goh would take the undergarments to pantry rooms in neighbouring blocks to look at them up close, after which he’d leave the undergarments behind in the rooms.
He was caught on February 1, 2019 when an NUS hall employee saw him acting suspiciously and followed him, before confronting him in the dorm’s pantry.
