Manager of Late Taiwanese Influencer Demands Truth from Namewee Over Hotel Death

The manager of the late Taiwanese influencer, Hsieh Yu-hsin — widely known as Iris Hsieh — has urged Malaysian rapper Namewee to be transparent about what truly transpired in a Kuala Lumpur hotel before her untimely death. The plea comes after inconsistencies were found between Namewee’s public statements and information provided to the Malaysian police.

Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was arrested on 22 October in Kuala Lumpur and later charged with drug possession and consumption. Authorities reportedly discovered nine blue pills, believed to be ecstasy, in his hotel room. Police also revealed that Wee tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC. Despite these findings, the rapper continues to deny involvement in any drug-related activities or in the influencer’s death.

Wee claimed on Instagram that he had been blackmailed and expressed confidence that the truth would emerge once investigations concluded in the coming months. According to reports, he and Hsieh had been collaborating on a video project in the hotel when the tragedy occurred.

Manager Questions Contradictions and Seeks Justice

Following Namewee’s statement, Hsieh’s manager, identified only as Chris, took to Instagram to challenge the rapper’s version of events. Chris stated that Namewee’s remarks did not align with official police findings and called on him to clarify the discrepancies.

Chris disclosed that he had engaged a private investigator to liaise with the Malaysian authorities but found inconsistencies in the information provided. He noted that initial reports cited cardiac arrest as the cause of death, though more recent information from the police suggested otherwise. However, he declined to reveal the new findings, citing respect for the deceased’s family.

The manager also highlighted that Hsieh had no known history of drug use and questioned the origin and nature of the substances reportedly found at the scene. He urged Namewee to explain whether Hsieh was tricked or pressured into taking any drugs.

Influencer’s Background and Manager’s Defence

Chris defended his management approach after being criticised for not accompanying Hsieh during the project. He explained that artistes are typically granted independence in their personal and professional dealings, and managers do not impose on their private lives. His role, he said, was to oversee contractual matters and ensure safety while respecting personal freedom.

Hsieh, 31, was a nursing graduate from the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology. She gained online fame in 2019 for her daring photos and later became one of Taiwan’s top OnlyFans creators, reportedly ranking in the top 0.05 per cent globally. Her followers also knew her for her distinctive hand injury — she had lost the tip of her right ring finger as a teenager due to an industrial accident.

As investigations continue, both the influencer’s fans and the public await further clarification from the authorities and Namewee, who remains at the centre of mounting scrutiny.
