Police investigations are ongoing after a male suspect allegedly entered a private residence in the Upper Thomson area while a female homeowner was inside the property. The incident has sparked concern among residents in the otherwise quiet neighbourhood known for its upscale landed homes and strong property investment value.
According to preliminary information, the alleged trespass took place on the night of Feb. 21 at a residential estate along Marigold Drive. The homeowner reportedly noticed the man’s presence and screamed, prompting him to flee the premises before officers arrived. She subsequently contacted the police for assistance.
When officers reached the location at about 9.40pm, they established that an unknown individual had entered the home without authorisation but had already left. No injuries were reported and there were no signs of theft or damage to property, offering some reassurance to homeowners concerned about home security and private estate safety.
Suspect Believed To Have Climbed Over Wall
Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao reported that the suspect may have scaled a perimeter wall before entering the backyard of the house. A man claiming to be a friend of the homeowner told reporters that this was the likely method of entry, raising fresh concerns about perimeter security measures at landed properties.
The Straits Times also reported that five vehicles from the Singapore Police Force’s Special Operations Command were spotted along Upper Thomson Road at around 11.20pm on the night of the incident. Their presence suggests that the authorities treated the matter with urgency, given the potential threat posed to residents.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that efforts to trace the suspect are underway. Residents in the area have been advised to remain alert and to report any suspicious individuals or unusual behaviour promptly.
Police Appeal For Information
Members of the public who may have information related to the case are encouraged to contact the Singapore Police Force at 1800-255-0000 or submit details through official online channels. All information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality.
Incidents involving trespass in private estates are relatively uncommon in Singapore, where crime rates remain low by global standards. However, security experts often advise homeowners, particularly those living in landed properties, to review their CCTV systems, alarm setups, and perimeter lighting to reduce vulnerability.
The case has also reignited discussion among property owners about the importance of home insurance coverage and advanced security solutions, especially in high-value residential districts such as Upper Thomson. While no loss was reported in this instance, authorities emphasise that vigilance remains the first line of defence.
Police investigations continue as officers work to identify and apprehend the individual involved. Residents are urged to stay cautious and to cooperate with law enforcement should they have any relevant information.
