MAN’S CAREER JUST STARTED, BUT SOON GOT ‘DESTROYED’ WHEN HE ATTENDED TO A MYSTERY SHOPPER

I was relatively new to the banking industry at that time. I had just graduated from University and had gotten a job in one of the local banks.

Life was just beginning for me and I worked very hard everyday, telling myself to make good use of this opportunity to work towards my retirement earlier.

However, I encountered a mystery shopper and things started to go south

I still remember the day I received a call from my manager like it was yesterday. I was at work, sitting at my desk and typing away on my computer when my phone rang.

It was my manager’s number displayed on the screen, and I immediately felt a sense of dread wash over me.

“Hi, is everything okay?” I asked tentatively, bracing myself for bad news.

“Not really,” my manager replied, his voice tight with tension. “We have a problem. A big problem.”

He went on to explain that the bank had received a complaint from a mystery shopper about my behavior during a recent interaction.

According to the shopper, I had been unprofessional, and had not provided the level of service that was expected of a bank employee.

I was shocked and hurt. I had always prided myself on my customer service skills and proper selling etiquette, and I couldn’t believe that someone had accused me of being unprofessional.

I spent the next few days wracking my brain, trying to figure out what I could have done wrong. I reviewed the interaction with the mystery shopper in my mind, going over every detail and trying to identify any missteps I might have made.

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t think of anything that would have warranted such a negative review.

As the days turned into weeks, I became more and more disillusioned with my job. I had always enjoyed working in the banking industry, but now I found myself constantly on edge, worried that I would make a mistake and receive another negative review from a mystery shopper.

Started to wonder if these group of people know that they are destroying another’s rice bowl

I began to resent the mystery shoppers, wondering why they had it in for me. Did they have nothing better to do than to try to ruin my career? I couldn’t understand why they would go out of their way to try to get me in trouble, and I became increasingly paranoid that they were watching my every move.

Eventually, I decided that I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t work in an environment where I was constantly worried about making a mistake and facing the wrath of the mystery shoppers. I handed in my resignation and left the banking industry behind, vowing never to return.

It’s been several years since I left the banking industry, and I still can’t help but feel a sense of bitterness towards the mystery shoppers. I know that they were just doing their jobs, but I can’t help but feel that they went out of their way to make my life difficult.

I often wonder if they have nothing better to do than to try to ruin people’s careers, and I hope that one day they will realize the impact that their actions can have on others.
