My recent experience with Grab Food has been a complete nightmare.
I had been extremely hungry and decided to order a meal from a small, local eatery. Little did I know that my food delivery would take over two hours and I think the food not coming from Jurong, its coming from Bangkok!
It all started when I placed the order on the Grab Food app. After choosing what I wanted to eat, I selected the delivery option and waited for the delivery man to arrive.
Little did I know that the delivery man would actually be coming from “Bangkok”, not Singapore.
After waiting for an hour, I started to get impatient. I called the restaurant and asked them where my delivery was. They said that the delivery man had been delayed and that he was still on his way. I was shocked!
I then contacted Grab Food and asked them what was going on. They told me that the delivery man had been dispatched the order and that it would take longer than usual for him to arrive. I was completely taken aback.
It eventually took two hours for the delivery man to arrive. I was extremely angry and disappointed. I asked the delivery man why if he was coming from Bangkok or Jurong and he told me that he had been dispatched from there due to a lack of local drivers in Singapore.
I was appalled by the whole situation.
I understand that Grab Food is a global company but my noodle that arrived was so hard it looks like the noodle had been deep fried. (I ordered Ba Chor Mee) I still felt like I had been taken advantage of.
I contacted Grab Food again and asked them to refund my money. I was initially told that they could not do that, but after further negotiations, I was eventually given a full refund.
This experience has taught me to be more aware of the services that I am using. I now read reviews before I order anything online and I always make sure that I know where my delivery is coming from.
This experience has also made me more conscious of the globalized nature of our world. We rely on services from across the globe and it can be difficult to know where something is really coming from. I am thankful that I was able to get a refund in the end.
