Massive Police Crackdown in S’pore: Over 2,400 People Investigated in Island-Wide Ops

In a sweeping effort to clamp down on criminal and illegal activities across the country, Singapore authorities have launched an intensive six-week island-wide operation that has seen 2,445 individuals placed under investigation. More than 14,300 people were checked during this massive multi-agency enforcement initiative, highlighting the government’s zero-tolerance stance on illicit behaviour.

The operations, carried out from 20 May to 7 July 2025, involved a coordinated effort between the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), and several other government agencies. Over 4,000 officers were mobilised to conduct more than 1,230 targeted raids and inspections throughout the city-state.

These operations aimed to combat a broad spectrum of illegal activities, including vice-related crimes, illegal gambling, the sale of banned e-vaporisers, and the distribution of unregistered health products.

Vice Raids and Gambling Busts Across the Island

Among the most significant outcomes was the arrest of 318 individuals—two men and 316 women—during anti-vice operations spanning areas such as Jalan Besar, Geylang, Yishun, Joo Chiat, and Bukit Batok. These individuals, aged between 19 and 63, are suspected of involvement in vice-related activities.

Illegal gambling also came under the spotlight. Authorities cracked down on unlicensed horse betting operations across various estates, including Marsiling, Ang Mo Kio, and Marine Terrace. A total of 61 individuals—60 men and one woman aged between 47 and 84—are currently being investigated for their alleged roles in illegal bookmaking, punting, and facilitating underground betting. Police seized more than S$29,000 in cash, mobile devices, and related paraphernalia during these raids.

Seizure of Unregistered Health Products and Non-Compliant Devices

In parallel operations, enforcement teams uncovered nearly 15,700 units of unregistered health and sexual enhancement products, cough syrup, and e-vaporiser pods with an estimated street value of S$30,350. These items were confiscated as part of the government’s ongoing fight against unauthorised and potentially dangerous health products circulating in the black market.

Authorities also seized seven non-compliant mobility devices, including three power-assisted bicycles (PABs), three brakeless fixed-gear bicycles, and one personal mobility device (PMD).

Public Safety and Enforcement Remains Top Priority

The SPF stated that the objective of these large-scale operations was not only to disrupt criminal enterprises but also to enhance public safety and reinforce visible police presence across Singapore. The checks spanned entertainment venues, massage parlours, gambling hotspots, and budget hotels, reflecting a comprehensive approach to community enforcement.

Out of the 14,300 individuals checked, 932 have already been arrested, with investigations against the remaining 2,445 ongoing. The authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping Singapore safe and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

This unprecedented enforcement push serves as a clear warning to those engaged in unlawful acts, reinforcing Singapore’s global reputation for law and order.
