The video was created to promote My Happy Table, McDonald’s new initiative

The video shares the stories of a few Malaysians, including Samsuri, who is working here as a delivery rider.

Initially thought he’d stay for 2 weeks

Samsuri had initially thought he was only going to be in Singapore for 2 weeks.

But a little over a year has sine passed since he’s been home in Malaysia, due to the Covid-19 pandemic closing the Malaysia-Singapore borders.

He shared how he has seven sibling, a wife and a daughter who is turning two soon; all of whom are in Malaysia.

He said that Ramadan this year is very different because he won’t be able to break fast with his family at the same table, and that he is spending it alone this year.

He revealed that he considered going back when his family needed him during occasions such as when his father had a stroke, or when his house was flooded.

But he decided against it because of his commitment to his work, to support his family.

Another employee, Rozaini, is also a Malaysian working in Singapore.

She said that all she wants is to hug her family, if she could return to Malaysia.

See the thing about time, it isn’t the main thing; time is the only thing.

Three months feel like three years

Rozaini shared how three months here have felt like she hasn’t seen her family in three years.

Just like Samsuri, Rozaini shared that she has to push through because of her responsibility to work and earn for her family, which is more important than anything else.
